John Lehrack
Assistant Director & Principal Accompanist
John Lehrack is thrilled to return
to the Bay Area after spending the last year and a half in
southern California. A former resident of San Francisco for
12 years, John has worked as a conductor, teacher and
performer for over 20 years in California, New York, Hawaii
and Florida. He was most recently the Artistic Director of
the South Coast Chorale in Long Beach as well as Na Leo
Nahenahe in San Francisco. John has also conducted The Jewish
Folk Chorus of San Francisco, The Honolulu Men’s Chorus, Equal
Voices, University of Hawaii Concert Choir, and several
others. An accomplished vocalist, he has appeared in leading
roles or as guest soloist for San Francisco City Summer Opera,
San Francisco Cabaret Opera, Solano Symphony, Opera Piccola,
Madrigal Chamber Quartet, University of Hawaii Chorus,
Madrigals Four and has worked as a cabaret and musical theatre
artist. As a pianist he is a former Artist-in-Residence for
Hawaii Opera Theatre and has served as accompanist for
Honolulu Symphony Chorus, Maui Symphony Chorus, Honolulu
Chorale, Honolulu Men’s Chorus, Jewish Folk Chorus of San
Francisco, Lesbian/Gay Chorus of San Francisco and numerous
solo artists. He holds degrees in music from the University
of Hawaii at Manoa and State University of New York at
Potsdam. John has also served on the faculties of Hawaii
Pacific University, New Roads School, Oakland School for the
Arts, Academy of the Pacific, Aiea High School, Westlake
School for the Performing Arts and American Musical Theatre of
San Jose. He has served as musical director for over three
dozen productions for theatres around the Bay Area and
nation.
