Peace
Within
Cherubini's Requiem in D minor
Napa:
Friday April 16th, 8:00pm @ First United Methodist Church,
625 Randolph St., Napa, CA
Oakland:
Saturday April 17th, 7:30pm & Sunday April 18th, 5pm @
Lakeshore Avenue Baptist Church, 3534 Lakeshore Ave.,
Oakland, CA 94610 [Map
& Directions]
Life and
death are so intertwined that to celebrate either requires an
understanding of both. Regarded by Beethoven as the greatest
composer of his time, Cherubini grappled with his own death by
composing this impassioned Requiem for Men's Chorus.
Intertwining each movement, you will hear twentieth-century
American works that celebrate all that is life: love,
happiness and friendship. In this way, we juxtapose death
with life, opening the possibility to find Peace Within.

St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 114 Montecito Avenue Oakland, CA

Everyone can
recall the TV holiday variety shows of the 60's, 70's and
80's. Bob Hope, Perry Como and Dean Martin, along side many
others, all gave their best renditions of Twas the Night
Before Christmas on national television. This era brought
about the rediscovery of old holiday tunes and gave birth to
many new favorites. Join us as we pay tribute to the holiday
variety shows of Yore and bring back some of
your all time favorites. |
