Oakland-East Bay Gay Men's
Chorus is requesting resumes for the director of its small
ensemble. On Q is the 12 voice select ensemble of the larger
chorus.
On Q Mission Statement:
“Inspired by fellowship discovered in the celebration of
choral music, the members of On Q engage, entertain and are
the outreach ambassadors to the community.”
Purpose of On Q:
The members of On Q perform at various venues throughout the
year with the goals of offering entertainment, bringing
favorable recognition to OEBGMC, and generating revenue.
Expectations for Members of On Q:
1 ) Arrive on time for all rehearsals
2 ) Strive to attend all performances: all large ensemble
seasonal concerts, plus any possible day, evening and weekend
performances
3 ) Conduct oneself in a manner befitting an ambassador of
OEBGMC
4 ) Strive to attain the highest quality of musical
performance
Music Director of On Q Job Description:
Reports to:
OEBGMC Artistic Director, or designee
Music Director of On Q Duties:
1. Arrive prepared and on time to all rehearsals and
performances, utilizing the highest quality of
professionalism.
2. Arrange hours as needed to accommodate attending
evening/daytime rehearsals and performances.
3. Arrange for qualified substitute for any absence, with AD’s
prior agreement.
4. Utilize rehearsal time efficiently to maximize the
ensemble’s preparedness and morale for optimal performance
quality.
5. Work under the AD’s direction to plan ensemble’s
performances.
6. Order, obtain, distribute and collect music for ensemble,
as directed and approved by AD.
7. Accompany ensemble during rehearsals and performances,
directing ensemble fromthe keyboard as necessary.
8. Set ensemble rehearsal and audition schedules, with AD
prior approval.
9. Actively work to bring in performance opportunities for On
Q that engage the community, advocate the organization and/or
bring in monetary contributions.
10. Direct and frequent communication with the AD is a must –
meeting with the AD on a monthly basis at minimum. AD will
occasionally sit in on On Q rehearsals, offer suggestions for
improvement, give guidance and direction, and make sure the
best
interests of OEBGMC are upheld.
Compensation:
Independent Contractor Part-Time Position.
$420/mo (salaried position based on $35/hr, 12/hrs per month)
A performance review will be conducted by the AD in
conjunction with the Personnel
Committee annually in June.
A written 30 day notice to OEBGMC is requested prior to
contractor resigning from this
position.
